Atlanta Falcons (@2.75) vs Jacksonville Jaguars (@1.47)

Our Prediction:

Jacksonville Jaguars will win

Atlanta Falcons – Jacksonville Jaguars Match Prediction | 26-08-2019 19:00

The Atlanta Falcons have one of the most potent offenses in the league, though, that have not fully manifested yet in the preseason with most of their starters chilling in the sidelines. As for the Jacksonville Jaguars, cornerback Jalen Ramsey has the opportunity to back up his claim that Ryan is not an elite quarterback. That may change this Saturday, though, as Matt Ryan and the teams starters are expected to spend ample time on the field.

Defensively, Josh Robinson led the Jaguars with six tackles, Dawuane Smoot had one sack and C.J. The Jacksonville Jaguars have split their last six preseason games. Leonard Fournette led the Jaguars with 27 yards on seven carries, while C.J. Reavis had two tackles for loss. Board had 56 receiving yards on four receptions. The Jacksonville Jaguars are 0-3 in preseason play and have scored a combined 17 points in those games. Gardner Minshew and Nick Foles combined for 176 passing yards, one touchdown and one interception. The Jacksonville Jaguars have done absolutely nothing offensively this preseason and thats not expected to change much with the backups getting all the reps in the final contest. With an average of 5.6 points and 13.3 first downs through three games, the Jags look lost whenever they take the field.

Ryan, however, may have to be more concerned of Jacksonvilles pass rush. Well, hes got a chance to add to his case this Saturday if he could pick or mess with any of Ryans passes. The Jags recorded four sacks in last weeks 14-10 road win over the Minnesota Vikings. Jacksonville defensive end Yannick Ngakoue and linebacker Telvin Smith both shined in that game, as they each came up with a sack and four tackles. They are now 5-2-1 ATS in their last 10 preseason games. It wasnt that long ago when Jags cornerback Jalen Ramsey labelled Falcons signal-caller Matt Ryan, along with other QBs in the league, as overrated. Apart from the win, the Jags also managed to cover their four-point spread as road underdogs in the Minnesota game.

It has been the same story when facing the Falcons, with 5 of the last 6 meetings between these two going UNDER. There was a sense that the Jaguars were not going to be very good this season, with that feeling very much reinforced over the past 3 weeks. The UNDER certainly seems to be the way to go when this team takes the field, with each of their last 6 games going that route.

However, there's no way I'm laying chalk with aJacksonville Jaguars team that's done nothing offensively through three games. The Atlanta Falcons haven't won a preseason game since the Titanic sank, so I guess I can understand them being in the underdog role. Give me the Falcons and the free points. The Jags aren't playing with much life and haven't been able to move the ball the length of a coffee table most drives.

Atlanta Falcons vs. Jacksonville Jaguars

One of the toughest things to achieve in the NFL is a high level of consistency over a period of years. With that in mind, it really is amazing just how good the New England Patriots have been over the last 10-15 years, as they always seem to find a way to reload and win again, although having the best QB ever to play the game certainly helps the cause. We are in the time of big money and free agency moves, a time where loyalty to a single team really doesnt exist anymore.

Etling led the Falcons with 48 yards on seven carries, while Justin Hardy had 24 receiving yards on one reception. Matt Ryan and Danny Etling combined for 80 passing yards, zero touchdowns and zero interceptions. Including this game, the Falcons will be on the road for five of the next seven weeks. The Atlanta Falcons have lost each of their last 12 preseason games. The Atlanta Falcons have scored 10 or less points in three of their first four preseason games and are coming off a game where they averaged just 4.1 yards per play. The Atlanta Falcons are 0-4 in preseason action and havent won an exhibition game since September of 2016, ironically against these Jacksonville Jaguars. Defensively, Duke Riley led the Falcons with seven tackles, Deadrin Senat had one sack and Austin Larkin had one tackle for loss.

Detailed Team Records (Through Week 15)

The Falcons lost their previous five games by an average of 4.2 points, but yielded their most points of the season while being shut out for the first time since 2004 last weekend. Its rushed for 118 yards in the last two weeks and had a season-low 230 total yards while bottoming out in last Sundays 38-0 loss to undefeated Carolina. Atlanta has averaged 13.7 points in the last seven games after scoring 30.5 in the first six.

They look to be in trouble this coming season and will close out their preseason schedule with a home game against the Atlanta Falcons with the NFL Odds slightly favoring them. This is a team that was a single defensive play away from making the Super Bowl 2 years ago, but who followed that up with a 5-11 season last year. The Cleveland Browns may be about to shake that label, while the Jacksonville Jaguars might be about to slide back into mediocrity. While we expect rollercoaster rides from every team, there are some who just cant ever seem to get it right.

As of the moment, the Falcons have been winless in their last six preseason outings, dating back to last year, during which theyve also gone 0-6 ATS. Against the Chiefs, Ryan passed for 90 yards with a touchdown on 5-of-7 completions. Still, the Falcons are expected to play some of their starters extended minutes with the Matt Ryan, Julio Jones, Vic Beasley, and Robert Alford all likely to play at least a quarter this Saturday. Rookie wide receiver Calvin Ridley should also pose problems for Jacksonville downfield after recording 49 receiving yards on three catches last week. But at least they put up a much better performance than in Week 1 in which they were shutout in a 17-0 road loss to the New York Jets. The Falcons are coming off another loss in the preseason, falling prey to the Kansas City Chiefs at home last week to the tune of a 28-14 score.

They have averaged just 15 PPG during the preseason, so they will be looking to get into a little bit of a groove in this final game. One thing to consider here is that the Falcons have failed to cover the spread in each of their last 20 games versus an AFC opponent. They are also just 4-9 SU in their last 13 meetings with Jacksonville.

While their preseason record shows them to be 0-3, they are actually one game worse off than that, as they also lost in the Hall of Fame Game prior to the start of the preseason schedule. It has not been a preseason to remember for the Atlanta Falcons. The offense has sputtered rather badly during that 4-game losing skid, although it should be noted that their big play guys have seen very little of the field during those 4 games.
