Deportivo – Malaga Match Prediction | 20-10-2019 10:00

Malaga are in great form but this will be a test of the progress theyve made since the change in coach. There hasnt been much to choose between the teams all season and this promises to be tight with so much at stake. They look capable of at least getting a result from the game which would give them the advantage heading into the 2nd Leg.

This is a fixture that feels like it belongs in the Primera Division and indeed was a top flight clash as recently as last season. At most only one of these teams wills be returning to the Primera though with bitter disappointment set to await the losers of this tie which commences in Galicia this Wednesday evening and concludes over 1,000 km away on the Costa del Sol on Saturday.

Depor also sacked their coach in April with Jos Luis Mart taking charge to steer them over the finish line and at least give them a shot at securing an immediate return to the top flight. Depor have also ended the season pretty well though with their last 7 games producing 4 victories and only one defeat. They saw off Cordoba 2-0 in their final fixture at the weekend to ensure they pipped Cadiz and Oviedo to the final play-off spot.

After a good performance in the Intertoto Cup Malaga managed to qualify for the UEFA cup for the first time ever in 2004. Malaga CF was found in 1994 after a fusion between former clubs Club Deportivo Malaga and Atletico Malaga. After playing down and forth in lower Spanish divisions the clubs managed to play in the Primera Division for the first time in 1999.

Malaga vs Deportivo La Corua Predictions, H2H and Match Preview

Malaga had been in fine form heading into the play-offs. Theyd reeled off four straight wins under their new boss Victor Sanchez. Every cliche in the book suggested they were the team that had timed their run well and were well placed to go on and secure promotion. They certainly started brightly in Galicia but a sloppy Second Half showing and in fairness plenty of quality from Depor leaves them with plenty to do here.

They head into the play-offs following five straight victories (includes an awarded 1-0 over now defunct Reus). To add to the spice, as if any were needed, the mastermind of the turnaround in form has been none other than former Depor player and coach Vctor Snchez. He was only appointed Malaga boss in mid-April following the sacking of Juan Muiz but has really hit the ground running steering the Andalusians to a 3rd place finish and the advantage of a home 2nd leg. Malaga are unquestionably the form team.

Los Boquerones, on the other hand, are on a five-game winning run in the Spanish second tier, but they will have a big fish to fry in Wednesdays football match against Jose Martis troops. Deportivo La Coruna fans are likely to pack the stadium and that is the main reason why we believe that there is a big value in betting on the Galician team, who are desperate to return to Primera Division.

Finally, take into account the form Malaga is in, and itd be upset if they do not find the back of the net. They scored two or more goals in four of the last five fixtures and got on the scoresheet in nine of their last ten away ties. Moreover, five of the last seven overall meetings had goals from both teams.
