Well done to all involved, to the management team of Noel McCarthy, Killian OLeary and Sean Cuddihy for leading us to a semi-final! We are now in a semi-final in both codes, something only two other sides in the county can claim and is a great achievement, with largely a very similar panel!

It was already a more free-flowing encounter than the week before and when Conor Staff used his pace and power to burst through the centre, he was able to pop the ball over the bar to give us a three-point lead. Tony McCarthy, in particular, was a tower of strength at full-back and Kevin OConnell was tested early on by the pace of the Blackrock corner-forward but grew dominant as the half progressed, winning a number of fifty-fifty balls. When Kyle broke past his opposite number in midfield, a bit of space opened up in front of him and he was able to fire over his second point of the evening. Blackrock were also creating chances, and moving lots of ball into their full-forward line but our full-back line were standing firm.

The 1940s was the last time a side from the parish competed at senior level, which is much too long for a proud club. Kildimo and Pallaskenry have been joined at adult level since 2012, officially amalgamating in 2016, and we have come such a long way in that time! It is a huge opportunity for the club to achieve senior status with such a talented crop of players available!

But it is not going to be easy, Blackrock are going to be incredibly tough opponents! They are managed by clubman Jimmy Quilty, who was an All-Ireland-winning coach and selector with Limerick in 2018 and with the Limerick U-21s in 2015. That was in a pulsating encounter on an April Thursday night in Kilmallock, when a last-minute point for Blackrock saw them salvage a draw! They did not win any games prior to the summer break, drawing two of their three fixtures, but have come into form since and powered into the semi-finals, where they were very impressive victors over Mungret, winning by nine points in the end, having been behind by 6 at half-time! Although, we became the first time since the competitions inception to go through all seven group games unbeaten, Blackrock were one of the sides that drew with us!

Importantly, we were able to hit back before the half-time whistle blew as Kyle Hayes won the ball and fired over the bar for his third point of the game. This was a fine run of scores, but despite this, Blackrock hit us with a body blow just before half-time as a scrappy ball broke kindly for Blackrock around the edge of the square and their forward was able to poke home for the games opening goal. It meant that we did take in a narrow lead at the half-time break, having played quite well, on a scoreline of Kildimo/Pallaskenry 0-11 Blackrock 1-7.
