Our Prediction:

Sociedad will win

Sociedad – Alaves Match Prediction | 26-09-2019 15:00

Both teams have been consistently leaking goals, and coincidentally, its been ten match-days for both squads since the last clean sheet. Also, since both teams stand a chance of making it to the playoffs, we can expect a raring contest, and with nothing to lose, the players will give everything they have, on the pitch. Moreover, two of the last four h2h ties and six of the last ten had goals from either side. Expect goals from both teams.

Real Sociedad are not pulling up any trees in Spanish La Liga this term under Asier Garitano. They will be desperate to bring a dreadful thread to an end in their last fixture of the year on Friday night when struggling Alaves come to visit Estadio Municipal de Anoeta. The hosts lost three on the spin in the league to slide down to the 15th place in the standings.

Los Babazorros are likely to adopt a defence-minded approach in Mondays football game, but seeing that Real Sociedad are a real force to be reckoned with at home, we are tempted to put our money on Willian Jose and his teammates as they want this win more than the visitors. Deportivo Alaves, on the other hand, have been producing fine performances in the first half of the season and, as a result, they sit in the top half of the La Liga standings. One of the men to watch in the home team will be pacey winger Adnan Januzaj, who is likely to pose a big threat for the opposition defenders. Following three consecutive defeats in La Liga, Real Sociedad will be looking to return to winning ways when they host Deportivo Alaves at their Estadio Municipal de Anoeta. La Real just cant find their rhythm, but Fridays Basque derby could be the turning point for the hosts.

Now Trending Football Predictions

The second game this Friday in La Liga is a Basque derby at Real Sociedads Anoeta. It is the visitors who are having the better season overall but on paper, they have less all-round quality than their regional rivals and they are still the clear underdogs heading into this match. Alaves are the visitors hoping to avenge two defeats against La Real last term.

Its hard to see any value in backing Sociedad at around 3/4 given they average just 0.86 points per home game this term. A 1-0 defeat at Getafe last weekend was their latest setback so confidence is unlikely to be high in the home camp. Only Huesca have picked up fewer home points and Sociedad were beaten by newly promoted Real Valladolid in their most recent outing on home soil. This is a pretty tough game to call.

Oyarzabals positioning and movement are work of a tactical genius, whereas it is his nous to find details to exploit that best define him as a player. It was in 2016 that he also represented the Basque region, scoring on his debut to cap a 3-1 win over Tunisia. Having come through the youth categories of the Spanish national team, Oyarzabal also has a senior cap next to his name.

The Basque outfit suffered a dip in form, but it has to be noted that they managed to hold Athletic Club to a 1-1 draw at San Mames Barria at the weekend. Deportivo Alaves are still in the race for a place in European competitions, but given their poor form, home win should not be considered. Deportivo Alaves will be looking to put an end to their seven-game winless run in La Liga when they host Real Sociedad at their Estadio de Mendizorroza.

Goalscorers

They really need to win this game so some of their usual caution may be thrown aside and this has the potential to be relatively open. Abelardo may well wind up at Real Betis next season but if the recent results are anything to go by, the off-field stuff hasnt helped this Alaves side which has perhaps over-achieved this season.

Intelligence is not an attribute you will find in Mikel Oyarzabals stats with Real Sociedad but this tricky winger is a highly knowledgeable winger who will use both brain and feet while playing. For a player born in Eibar, who made his first steps in his hometown club, it was always going to be a choice between Athletic Bilbao and Real Sociedad for Oyarzabal.

Also, they are closer to the European spots, having to overcome a deficit of just three points from the last nine available, whereas Sociedad needs to make up six. Expect them to avoid a loss at any cost. In addition, eight of the last twelve h2h wins, and 10 of the last 13 at this venue went to Alaves. With the home status, Alaves does have the upper hand.
